More Generous Usage Limits Ahead of Overage Billing

Over the past several weeks, we have been refining FiveMesh usage limits and overage pricing almost every day. Each adjustment has been informed by the usage data available to us, with a simple goal: make every plan cost-effective for customers, with generous included usage and limited, predictable costs when a workspace grows beyond it.

Usage metering is active today. Overage charging is not.

We currently aim to enable overage charging starting October 1, 2026, once we have completed the observation period and validated the new meters. This is a target rather than a guaranteed cutover date. Usage recorded before overage charging is activated will not be charged retroactively.

One set of platform allowances

FiveMesh previously presented separate request and bandwidth allowances for CDN and Cache. That made the plan harder to understand and could leave included capacity unused in one service while another service became busier.

Requests and bandwidth are now shared across the platform:

• FiveMesh Requests combine CDN and Cache requests.
• FiveMesh Bandwidth combines CDN and Cache traffic.
• Storage continues to measure data stored in FiveMesh CDN.

The individual CDN and Cache meters remain available in the Billing page as a service breakdown. They help explain where usage comes from, but they are not separate commercial limits. A workspace using only CDN or only Cache can use the full request and bandwidth allowance included with its plan.

More usage included with every plan

We have also increased the shared allowances beyond the totals in the earlier service-by-service model.

These are soft limits. Crossing an included allowance will not automatically switch off CDN delivery or interrupt Cache while players are connecting. Once overage charging is active, only the usage above the included amount will be charged.

Simplified overage rates

The planned EUR overage rates are:

FiveMesh Requests	€1.00 per additional million requests
FiveMesh Bandwidth	€3.00 per additional TB

FiveMesh subscriptions support multiple currencies, but overage rates will remain defined in EUR. When a workspace is billed in another supported currency, Polar automatically converts the EUR overage amount into that billing currency. Keeping one EUR source rate makes the calculation easier to audit and allows the final charge to account for currency-market fluctuations without us maintaining separate fixed overage tables for every currency.

The shared request rate also replaces the previous distinction between CDN and Cache request pricing. That means one lower, consistent rate of €1.00 per additional million requests across both services.

For example, a Starter workspace using 5.4 TB of combined CDN and Cache traffic would be 0.4 TB above its included 5 TB. Once charging is active, that bandwidth overage would be €1.20. The included 5 TB would remain covered by the base subscription.

Why we are adjusting before charging

Metering without charging gives us time to compare the model with real platform behavior. FiveM infrastructure can be uneven: a major resource update, a busy event or a burst of phone media can create very different usage patterns from a normal week.

We want the allowances to absorb normal variation, and we want occasional overage to remain proportionate instead of turning a successful month into a surprise invoice. At the same time, the model needs to remain commercially sustainable so we can keep operating and improving the infrastructure behind FiveMesh.

That is why the limits and rates have evolved as more data has become available. We would rather make those adjustments during a transparent observation period than charge first and learn afterward.

What happens next

Until activation, usage above the included allowances remains a preview in the Billing page and is not added to invoices. No configuration changes are needed for existing CDN or Cache customers.
